Who should sleep on a firm hybrid mattress?
A firm hybrid mattress is best suited to front sleepers, back sleepers, and heavier individuals (typically 15 stone+). It provides the spinal alignment and pressure distribution that softer mattresses can't offer for these sleep positions. Side sleepers generally find firm mattresses uncomfortable around the hips and shoulders.

How firm is too firm?
If you wake up with pressure point pain in your hips, shoulders, or lower back, the mattress may be too firm for your sleeping position or body weight. A firm hybrid mattress should feel supportive without creating discomfort — if you're unsure, look for a mattress with a 100-night trial so you can test it properly.

Do firm hybrid mattresses need a specific bed frame or base?
A firm hybrid mattress performs best on a solid base or slatted bed frame with slats no more than 7cm apart. A sprung divan base can soften the overall feel, which may counteract the firm support you're looking for. If you want to preserve the firmness, a solid platform base or close-slatted frame is the better choice.
