Rolled Up Mattress FAQs
-
Why is my OTTY delivered rolled up in a box?
Every OTTY hybrid is vacuum-packed, rolled and boxed rather than delivered flat. It's far more practical, as a rolled mattress is much easier to carry upstairs, round tight corners and through narrow doorways than a full-size mattress. It's also more efficient to transport, so more mattresses fit in each van and fewer are needed on the road. The compact size is what lets our courier team bring your new OTTY in and take your old mattress away in one trip. -
How long does an OTTY take to expand once I unbox it?
It starts expanding the moment you unroll it and regains most of its shape within a few hours. We recommend allowing up to 24–48 hours for it to fully decompress to its intended depth and feel before your first night on it. There's no need to rush it — the airflow structure just needs a little time to fully open up. -
How does a mattress in a box work?
It’s pretty clever – in order to fit into a box, these mattresses are tightly rolled up and vacuum packed so that they take up substantially less space. The real magic happens when you unbox it. Once you remove it from its packaging, the mattress slowly expands into its full size and… voila! You’ve got one full-sized mattress.
-
Are rolled up mattresses any different to a standard mattress?
Nope. A mattress in a box is designed to provide a fantastic night’s sleep, just like any other mattress. Although we will say that it’s worth doing your research beforehand as cheaper brands can vary in terms of quality.
-
Is a rolled mattress as good as a traditional flat one?
Yes. Being delivered in a box has no bearing on quality — it's simply a smarter way to package and deliver. Once expanded, your OTTY performs identically to any mattress delivered flat, with the same pocket-spring support, memory foam comfort and AirFlow cooling.
-
Will a boxed OTTY fit up my stairs and through my doors?
That's exactly the advantage of a rolled mattress. Because it's compressed into a manageable box, it's far easier to manoeuvre through hallways, up stairwells and around corners than a bulky flat mattress — access issues that often make traditional mattress delivery difficult simply aren't a problem.
